Milestones

So . . . . as you may have guessed by the picture, Tate used the potty!!! Yes, yes, very exciting. He's been telling us when he needs to go, um, poo poo. So we took advantage of it and sat him on the potty. It took a few minutes of sitting on the potty, running around, and more sitting on the potty, but he finally went. Of course I had to bribe him with Elmo movies, blankies, and toys to get him to stay long enough to go, but it worked! I was so excited, I called Grandma, Daddy, and Aunt Aya and made Tate tell them all, "Poo poo in potty." The next day he went pee pee in the potty. Then he wanted nothing to do with it. I had a feeling that might happen. We had a lot of diaperless running around for two days, and no progress. But today, he peed in the potty twice! So we're making some headway. I'm sure it's going to take a while since he is so young, but I've got nothing but time.

In other milestone news, Tate is starting to string two words together on a regular basis. It's pretty funny to listen to him start to figure out how to make a sentence. These are some of the two word phrases I've heard him say lately:
"Abbie House"- He loves our little neighbor Abbie and all her fun toys.

"Night, night, Aya"- I'm not sure why he's always telling Andrea night, night when she's never here at bedtime.

"Bye, bye chips" - He likes to say good bye to inanimate objects, like the chips on the kitchen counter.

"Bumpa Tractor"- He thinks everything belongs to Grandpa.

"Bumpa Truck" - See above

"Bumpa Popcorn"- See above

"Elmo Potty" - We watch Elmo's Potty Time while we're sitting on the potty waiting for the magic to happen.

"Ashley Kite"- He has a friend at daycare named Ashley, one day they made kites out of paper plates.

"Nessie Cookie"- His favorite teacher's name is Cessie, and she always gives him cookies (cheerios).

"Baby shhhh" - Somehow he figured out that we need to be quiet around babies, or maybe that babies need to be quiet?

He may be young for potty training, but if he is being cooperative, I think it is great that you are starting already. Good luck with it!

I hope Tate gets you back for that potty picture when he grows up. And the naked baby ones you took when he was younger.
